The 5th Annual Farming Families Update
The 5th Annual Farming Families Update took place on Tuesday 21 February at The Lawn in Rochford. The event is hosted by Rickard Luckin, Whirledge and Nott and Birkett Long and attracted approximately 100 local farmers and their families along to listen to a variety of subjects on diversification and succession.
The topics covered included diversification, tax, accounts, planning for succession, letting of farm buildings, partnership agreements and the pitfalls for succession and were covered by 6 speakers from the hosting firms. The speakers were Peter Warren and Caroline Peters from Rickard Luckin, Mark Wrinch and Caroline Dowding from Birkett Long and Anthony Hicks and David Milbourn from Whirledge and Nott.
Chris Collings from Harlow Agricultural Merchants Ltd was also the chairman of the event. As chairman of Harlow Agricultural Merchants Ltd, Chris oversees the group of companies consisting Black Prince Canal Boat Holidays, Needham Chalks (HAM) Ltd and Alliance Technical Laboratories Ltd along with the core agricultural business. With over 20 years’ experience in the agricultural supply sector, he remains passionate about the future of British farming and the role independent agricultural merchants can play in the years ahead.
