Southend-on-Sea’s Nelson Street holds an important place in local history, created in the nineteenth century as the
town’s original ‘shopping street’.

These days the tree-lined street is home to an array of professional businesses, one of which is Rickard Luckin, an award-winning independent accountancy firm with additional offices in Basildon and Chelmsford.

Rickard Luckin was created from a merger of two prominent local practices, Rickard Keen – which has occupied the Nelson Street location since the 1980s – and Bird Luckin, in October 2016.

In an attempt to both streamline and modernise its operations following the merger, planned refurbishment has recently completed on the firm’s offices at 7 Nelson Street.

Tax Director Jamie Nice commented: “Following the move to our new Basildon office at Phoenix House, we wanted to provide a similar modern and professional environment for our team and clients in Southend.

Having been in Southend for nearly 100 years and on Nelson Street for approximately half of that time, we very much appreciate the importance of having a strong presence in the town, close to our clients and professional contacts.”

Mr. Nice also stated that the firm had originally searched for alternative office space in Southend, before taking the decision to bring 7 Nelson Street into the 21st Century instead.

The Nelson Street office makeover consists of a clean and contemporary colour scheme that incorporates the firm’s branding, new office furniture and carpeting throughout, cutting-edge computing equipment, and a flat screen television in the reception area for visitors.

Mr. Nice continued: “It’s an exciting time to be in business in Southend, with the Airport having ‘taken off’, the real prospect of a new football stadium, the airport business park in the pipeline and our excellent seafront going from strength to strength.

Rickard Luckin have advised businesses and individuals in the area on tax and business strategy for many years, and are looking forward to continuing this well into the future.”

Rickard Luckin offers a full suite of accountancy and tax services that cater to private and business clients, with a dedicated unit for start-up businesses.  The firm is also able to advise specialised professions including healthcare, law, and education.

The firm’s core Southend team remains headed by Directors Alan Worsdale, Bill Gould and Jamie Nice.
