Agricultural Briefing – Autumn 2017

With the 2017 harvest finished, and work on the new farming year well and truly underway, harvest festival celebrations have taken place around the county. These gave us time to reflect how fortunate we have been, while others have lost all in recent fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and floods.

What the implications of Brexit will be for the farming community is obviously still one of the main topics and the debate surrounding subsidies will rumble on for a while yet. Rural crime is another issue that will not go away and we have included an article on this subject. We thank NFU mutual for providing the source document.

In this newsletter, we have addressed some of the main areas that we have been asked to help out with in recent months, in particular some of the tricky VAT implications of diversification and the key considerations to having a successful claim for entrepreneurs’ relief for capital gains tax.
