Christa Humphreys

Associate | Chelmsford

Christa is an Associate within our Corporate Tax Team. She has over 25 years of experience in advising and assisting corporate clients and individuals in connection with their tax affairs, and joined Rickard Luckin in 2022.

Originally starting out as an accounting and audit trainee, Christa qualified for the ACA early on in her career. Having spent several years working in the accounting and audit department of a medium-sized firm, Christa decided that her main interest lay in tax and to further enhance her knowledge by studying for the CTA. She qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in the early 2000s and has been working as a tax specialist ever since.

Christa has a wealth of experience in many aspects of tax, particularly those affecting family- owned businesses. Her accounting background enables her to understand the wider picture, and the commercial implications of tax advisory decisions. Over the years she has helped many businesses with their tax affairs, addressing both their corporate and personal needs. She is committed to continuously seeking the best possible outcomes for her clients, and to create solutions tailored to their unique circumstances.

Christa enjoys explaining complex tax issues in a clear and straightforward way. She is friendly and approachable and is always happy to talk things through so that clients fully understand their options and the implications. She enjoys getting to know her clients so that she has a more rounded understanding of who they are and what their needs and aims are for the future, so that she can give them the best possible advice.

Christa provides tax advice on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Succession planning
  • Inheritance Tax and estate planning
  • Business Property Relief & Agricultural Property Relief
  • Business incorporations
  • Trusts
  • Capital Gains Tax
  • Corporate Tax
  • Employment tax
  • Employee share incentive plans including EMI schemes and growth shares
  • Group reorganisations and shareholder exit planning

In her spare time, Christa loves spending time with friends and family. At the weekend, she can often be found standing in the middle of a freezing- cold field watching one of her sons play football or tennis (sometimes both!). She also loves reading, jogging (slowly but in a ladylike way), gardening and Marmite, but not necessarily all at the same time.
