Having joined on the same day some 45 years ago, in a two-partner Southend based accountancy practice which later became the Rickard Luckin we recognise today, we now find ourselves saying farewell to Directors Alan Worsdale and Bill Gould, who both retire this month.

Alan and Bill have been instrumental in growing the Southend practice, which became Rickard Keen and now forms an integral part of Rickard Luckin, and it is safe to say that the Southend office has been a big part of their lives.

Reflecting on where it all began, Bill says: “I can still clearly remember the day that my dear friend and business colleague, Alan Worsdale, called me to say that he had just got a job as a student at a firm of accountants in Southend. They needed another student and he’d arranged an interview for me. The rest they say is history, but when I look at the firm today you can imagine my pride at having played some part in its evolution into the outstanding professional services organisation it is today.”

Whilst Alan and Bill will be missed by colleagues and clients alike, they leave Rickard Luckin at a time when the Southend office, and our presence and stature in the local area has never been better. The depth and breadth of talent in the firm, the commitment of the team, and the quality of the leadership is something to be envied, and we firmly believe that despite the recent global challenges, we are entering a new and exciting phase that will take the business from strength to strength.

Alan adds: “In terms of the Southend office, I am confident that we are leaving it in very good hands, with Jamie Nice, who joined us as a trainee during our Rickard Keen days, now a Director, shareholder and Head of Tax & Financial Planning at Rickard Luckin. Add to this the hiring of the extremely well-known and connected Dan Garside as a Director in 2018, and together they will make a great team.”

This of course is ably supported by Jodie Gammon who was last year promoted to the role of Associate, and Dean McCormack, an Associate who moves to Southend from our Basildon office to further add to the team’s leadership in the office. It’s safe to say that with such a strong leadership team in Southend, we have every confidence in the Southend office propelling the firm to even bigger and better things in the future.

We would like to thank Alan and Bill for their contribution to the business over 4 hugely successful decades, ensuring the high levels of service, expert advice and knowledge remain at the heart of the next generation of our leadership team. We wish them both a long, happy and healthy retirement.
