A firm fixture in the Essex farming calendar for over 60 years, the Rochford Hundred Agricultural Society’s Annual Ploughing Match is a reliably fun-filled, family-friendly event.
2019 is also a special year for the Ploughing Match, as an even larger, county-wide crowd of both competitors and spectators is expected. The result is sure to be a lively and buzzing atmosphere that’s not to be missed.
The free-to-attend event is a great excuse to learn more about the farming world, including everything from modern-day machinery, to age-old ploughing practices. And of course, there will be plenty of the usual games and awards in between.
The location of the Ploughing Match rotates each year, and on Saturday 28th September it will be the turn of Little Stambridge Hall Farm, conveniently positioned between Rochford and Southend-on-Sea.
As ever, there will be plenty of local farming and agricultural experts on hand to chat with. The event’s proud sponsors for another successive year, Rickard Luckin’s own specialist Agriculture team will be out in force, with welcome refreshments available from their dedicated marquee.
Rickard Luckin’s resident agriculture expert and company director Caroline Peters will also be crowning the winner of the Overall Champion Ploughman, at the event’s famed cup presentation.
Keen supporters of the agricultural industry for decades, you can view the latest edition of Rickard Luckin’s informative Agricultural Briefing newsletter (here).
