The finale of the Rochford Hundred Agricultural Society’s Annual Ploughing Match saw Billy Purkiss from W.E. Purkiss & Sons of Hawkwell Hall Farm, Hockley, awarded with the Overall Champion Ploughman cup.
One of our resident agricultural specialists and company director Caroline Peters presented and congratulated Billy Purkiss at the event’s famed cup presentation, which has been a firm fixture in the Essex farming calendar for over 60 years.
Picturesque Little Stambridge Hall Farm was a beautiful setting for hosting the event, which sees local farmers competing for the best furrow in various competitive groups including vintage tractors, steam ploughs and shire horses.
As keen supporters of the agricultural industry for decades, our team were on hand during the day meeting and greeting the local farming community from our hospitality marquee. It was great to see so many visitors pop in for a chat, cuppa and delicious homemade cakes.
