Grants of up to £75,000 are available to support village hall improvement projects through the rural community support charity ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England). ACRE was appointed to administer the £3 million government fund by the Department for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. The government announced the scheme in the Autumn 2018 Budget to mark the centenary of the Armistice, with the aim of providing support local rural communities.
Those eligible to apply include registered charities, charitable trusts and charitable incorporated organisations. Applicants can apply to the scheme for funding of up to 20% of eligible costs. Minimum grant of £10,000 and a maximum grant of £75,000 is payable, meaning that the overall scheme costs would be between £50,000 and £375,000.
