Patrick Peal, CEO of life-saving charity, East Anglian Air Ambulance has been announced as winner of the Third Sector category at the IoD East of England Director of the Year Awards 2019 – an award proudly sponsored by Rickard Luckin.

Patrick co-founded the East Anglian Air Ambulance in 2000, a charity which helps to save lives by delivering highly skilled doctors and critical care paramedics by air or car to seriously ill or injured people in the region.

The Third Sector Director of the Year Award recognises the achievements of leaders from across the entire East of England region who show good public governance, including good planning, efficiency, transparency and accountability.

Caroline Peters, Director and Charities & Not-for-Profit lead at Rickard Luckin, judged the Third Sector category and was delighted to present Patrick with his award, who was honoured, alongside 10 other business leaders, at a celebratory lunch on Friday 14 June 2019 at the Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket.

Caroline commented “Congratulations to Patrick on his award, which is a testament to all of his dedication and hard work with the East Anglian Air Ambulance. The Third Sector Director of the Year Award was a tough one to judge due to the high quality of applications but Patrick’s entry shone through with his strong business leadership, as well as his passion for the charity.”

Speaking at the awards ceremony, IoD East of England Regional Director, Simone Robinson said:

“We refer to the East of England region as the ‘Enterprising East’ as it is an area recognised for business start-up and scale-up. Once again the judges were overwhelmed by the professionalism, passion and dedication of all of the IoD Director of the Year finalists. They are all shining lights for the Enterprising East and we hope that they will continue to develop their leadership skills via the IoD’s professional development courses as better directors in turn leads to a better economy.”

Category winners will now progress to be considered for the national IoD Director of the Year Awards taking place in London later this year.
